How Are Chemical Peels Performed?

Chemical peel treatments first require a thorough cleansing of the areas of your skin that are to be treated. A chemical solution is then applied onto the desired areas in multiple layers to help remove the uppermost layers of your skin where most of the damage is. Typically, treatment takes around an hour, but this can vary depending on the severity of your skin. After the peel is removed, the skin is cleansed an additional time and hydrated. This helps speed up recovery while also protecting your skin from future damage.

What is Recovery Like After Chemical Peels?

After a chemical peel treatment, you can return home and resume normal activities without worrying about long hospital stays or repeated visits. Avoiding direct sunlight and excessive physical exertion or exercise is recommended for around 24 hours after a session. Obtaining proper amounts of rest is also essential in the recovery process. You may notice your skin peeling after around 3 days, but do not pick at your skin. Let it peel naturally to avoid scarring and ensure you reap the full benefits of chemical peels.

How Long Will My Chemical Peels Results Last?

Chemical peel results typically last for a few months but can last longer depending on the regimen recommended for your skin. These results will be visible once your skin has naturally healed after the peeling process. Multiple treatment sessions may be recommended with a few weeks of downtime in between sessions. Treatments annually might also be recommended for long-term results.
