Shaving, tweezing and waxing.  It takes time, it causes irritation and once it’s done, you will need to start all over again in a matter of days or weeks.  Laser hair removal is a safe and effective way to remove unwanted hair.  As one of the most popular cosmetic services in the United States, laser hair removal can get rid of unwanted hair anywhere else on the body, including the face, arms, legs, back, neck, bikini area, underarms and virtually anywhere on the body.

About Face Skin Care is excited to announce the arrival of the Diolaze Laser Hair Removal System.   Diolaze is the new champion of speed in the laser hair removal arena. This is the FIRST laser to combine high peak power, optimal pulsing and the largest spot size simultaneously in the same session. The unique scanning technology in the laser head and built in safe guards work to provide a unique combination of high tech sophistication with efficacy and safety.  Diolaze uses a gold standard diode laser to deliver high power and fast pulsing laser hair removal for all skin types.

This state of the art laser emits highly concentrated light into hair follicles.  The color of the hair in the follicles absorbs the light, which permanently prevents future growth.  The unique design of the head offers cooling to the skin before, during, and after the laser pulse that makes the treatment painless and prevents damage to the skin. The laser head has one of the largest spot sizes available.  These factors make the treatment very fast and very comfortable.

Lasers can only treat the hair follicles that are actively growing.  At any given time, only 20% to 30% of your follicles are active, which is why multiple treatments are required.  Typically, clients are enjoying the result after four to six treatments.  The number of treatments needed is determined by skin color, thickness of hair, hair color, and how much hair you want removed.  It is necessary to wait four to six weeks between sessions to ensure the next group of follicles is ready for treatment.

Laser hair reduction is the only way to permanently remove unwanted hair.  Clients notice that after each treatment, significantly less hair grows back resulting in permanent hair reduction. Most clients will experience a 50-90% reduction in hair growth in the area treated.  However, some maintenance treatments may be necessary in some cases.

On your first laser hair removal appointment, your health history will be reviewed to ensure that you are a good candidate for the treatment.  We will discuss your skin history and skin type to determine the appropriate settings for the laser.  When ready for treatment, you will lie down on a comfortable treatment bed and wear glasses to keep your eyes safe. The area to be treated will be cleaned and ultrasound gel will be applied.  The tip of the laser will be placed on the surface of your skin. A cooling tip at the end of the laser cools the epidermis (outer layer of the skin). The laser light energy penetrates through the surface of the skin and is absorbed at the base of the hair follicle. As the laser fires, you will feel a sensation similar to a tingling electrical sensation on the skin.

Once the area has been treated your laser technician will clean off the remaining gel and apply topical calming cream to your skin. Sunscreen will also be applied before you leave.  Most clients note a minor redness and minor swelling at the treated site. This can last a few hours to a couple of days. Cool compresses can soothe any discomfort.

There are a few things to remember before your treatment.  You cannot pluck, wax, use a depilatory or have electrolysis in the areas you want to treat for four weeks prior to laser hair reduction, but shaving is okay and is actually necessary before we treat with the laser. Do not tan the areas for two weeks prior to treatment. Avoid using self-tanning products for two weeks prior to treatment
