Sclerotherapy

Spider veins on the legs can be an embarrassing problem that makes it difficult to wear shorts or skirts.  Customers often say that this is a more embarrassing problem than cellulite.  About Face Skin Care can help you get rid of this annoying problem with sclerotherapy.

Sclerotherapy is treatment in which a small amount of solution is injected into the broken or “spider” vein.  These veins are the small purplish veins that are seen on the surface of the skin.  When the solution is injected into this dysfunctional vein, the blood is shunted down to the healthier vessels and the broken vein scleroses or shuts down.

Vessels may look brighter purple before they clear, and it is normal to look like you have small bug bites on the treated area for the first few hours after treatment.  We recommend that you avoid exercise for the first week and sun exposure until all bruising is healed.  You will be reassessed at four to six weeks to see if further treatment is needed.  Often, it will take two to three treatments to clear all vessels.  There is minimal discomfort with this treatment.

If you are experiencing aching, pain, or bulging veins, we ask that you see a vascular physician to check for varicose veins.  Sclerotherapy is not intended to treat these types of issues.
